Description
La Flor Dominicana double ligero
Continuing our trend of blending powerful cigars. These babies are amazing. Estate grown Dominican filler and binder, wrapped in dark Ecuadorian Sumatra, sun grown leaves.
“All sizes available in Maduro & Natural”
This is the third time that this very cigar has made it to our Top 25 list. What can we say other than this is one of the most consistent lanceros on the market. And one of the tastiest. Besides the wrapper, all the tobacco in this lancero was grown on brand owner Litto Gomez’s La Canela farm in the Dominican Republic. The dry, hot microclimate makes his tobaccos strong and concentrated—and this cigar is all about concentration. The thin ring gauge condenses the smoke of each puff, putting an earthy, peppery smoke right in the center of the palate before notes of dark fruit, cocoa powder and leather blossom onto the long finish.

The Profile
The Look: These sticks are often dark, glistening with oils, and feel incredibly heavy in the hand. The construction is rock solid, usually featuring a tapered “chisel” or a traditional robusto/toro shape.
The Cold Draw: Expect a massive hit of barnyard hay, dried fruit, and a tingle of red pepper on the lips before you even strike a match.
The Breakdown
The Opening Act
There’s no “warming up” here. From the first light, the Double Ligero hits with a massive wall of spice and dark earth. It’s a literal spice bomb—cracked black pepper and red pepper flakes—that wakes up every taste bud.
The Body
As it levels out, the profile moves into a deep, muscular territory. You’ll pick up notes of heavy leather, dark-roasted coffee beans, and a raw, meaty savory quality. It’s thick, chewy smoke that you can almost bite into.
The Finale
By the end, the nicotine strength is undeniable. The flavors turn toward a charred wood and dark chocolate bitterness, maintaining a full-throttle intensity until the very last puff. It’s a “finger-burner” for those who can handle the heat.
The “Why” Behind the Smoke
Strength Level: Professional grade. This is a full-bodied, full-strength experience.
The Burn: Slow and cool. Because of the density of the ligero leaves, these cigars tend to burn for a long time.
Best For: Late nights after a heavy steak dinner.
Pro Tip: Never smoke this on an empty stomach. The Double Ligero is notorious for its “kick.” Keep a sugary drink or a piece of dark chocolate nearby to help manage the nicotine buzz if it starts to lean into your head.
Overall Vibe: Powerful, unapologetic, and masterfully blended for the veteran smoker.
